If your job is defined as nonexempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), you will convert to the biweekly pay cycle. Generally, nonexempt positions include those career employees who are eligible for overtime and temporary employees, including students. Employees whose job titles are exempt will continue to be paid monthly.
"Nonexempt" and "Exempt"
Under FLSA, nonexempt employees are eligible to earn overtime compensation and are required to record their actual hours worked. Exempt employees are not eligible for overtime compensation.
FLSA requires nonexempt employees to report their actual hours worked so they can be compensated for overtime. The biweekly pay cycle ensures that hours worked and overtime are recorded so employees are paid these earnings accurately on the pay date.
