UC Hastings College of the Law is the lender for all campus-based loans. The College is responsible for the administration and collection of these loans since students borrow them directly from Hastings. Hastings currently offers these campus-based loans:
Federal Perkins Student Loan
Perkins loans are subject to specific Federal regulations. The federal government originally provided the majority of the funding for these loans with Hastings also making contributions. Repayment of loans from former borrowers is now the only source of funding for current loans.
James O'Neill Loan
James O'Neill loans are funded by a private donated endowment to the College. They are subject to federal and state laws applicable to loans. Hastings has established the terms and conditions regarding eligibility and repayment. Repayment of loans from former borrowers and endowment income are the funding source for these loans.
Hastings Law Loan
Hastings Law loans are funded by private donations to the College. They are subject to federal and state laws applicable to loans. Hastings has established the terms and conditions regarding eligibility and repayment. Repayment of loans from former borrowers is the primary source of funding for these loans.
