Welcome to UC Hastings College of the Law! Student Health Services (SHS) is the campus health clinic funded by your Health Services Fee. SHS is available to all UC Hastings students, regardless of the students’ type of insurance. We are located in the 200 McAllister building, room 202. Student Health Services staff includes internal medicine doctors, a sports medicine doctor, women's health nurse practitioners, registered nurses, psychiatrists, counselors, a social worker, and administrative personnel. Staff are available to answer your Hastings student insurance questions and to help with insurance processing. Clinic appointments are available to new and returning students.

UC Hastings requires all enrolled students to have health insurance coverage. UC Hastings has partnered with the University of California system to offer students access to UC's Student Health Insurance Plan for graduate students (UC SHIP). UC SHIP is a health insurance plan tailored to the health care needs of graduate students. It features year-round, world-wide coverage using the Anthem PPO network, Anthem Blue View Vision plan, and Delta Dental PPO plan.

All students are automatically enrolled in and billed for UC SHIP. If a student already has health insurance and that health insurance will continue through the student's enrollment for the 2012-13 academic year at UC Hastings, he/she may opt to waive out of UC SHIP by completing the online waiver form. The first day to submit a waiver for the Spring 2013 semester is December 12, 2013. The waiver deadline for the spring semester is 1/28/2013. Students who successfully waive UC SHIP must have proof of coverage by another medical health insurance plan that meets UC Hastings' minimum criteria. International students, please note, that your insurer must have a U.S. affiliate  office that will process and pay claims in U.S. dollars.

The UC SHIP insurance premiums for the 2012-2013 school year are $1048 for the Fall and $1572 for the Spring/Summer for a total of $2620.

UC Hastings requires ALL new students to submit two forms.
