Golden Jubilee Book (1878–1928)
This publication celebrated the 50th anniversary of the founding of Hastings College of the Law. It was written by the faculty, the students, and by directors of the College. The Golden Jubilee Book is a time capsule that represents how our predecessors viewed this institution and its history to that point. —Eric Noble

Foreword
This, our Golden Jubilee Book, is a part of the celebration and commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of Hastings College of the Law. Few professional schools, especially in the West, can boast of this ripe old age. Mere age is not a just cause for celebration, however, for age without accomplishment is rather an occasion for regret. The students, the alumni, the faculty, the directors, and all friends of the institution contemplate the record of this school and its graduates during the last half century with a feeling of pride, and know that there is a just cause for the celebration of this Golden Jubilee. During this period both its faculty and its graduates have held a high place among the members of California's bench and bar.
The primary purpose of this book has been to collect and place in a more accessible form some of the history in which this institution is so rich. While this is the keynote of the book, it has also been thought appropriate that there should be some mention of the future which awaits the school, for with a thought to this future the next half century may witness an even more brilliant career for this, our Alma Mater.
