I am pleased to announce that Andrea Welles has joined us as Assessment and Institutional Research Analyst. A graduate of UC Hastings, class of 2010, Andrea has worked in this capacity on part-time and then acting basis for the past two years. In that time, I've come to see her understanding of higher education policy, her attention to detail, and her follow through. Working under the supervision of Associate Dean Jenni Parrish, our accreditation liaison, Andrea is primarily responsible for compiling, verifying, and reporting the enormous, complex data that must be submitted to numerous governmental agencies, regulatory authorities, and others.
As you know, higher education in general and legal education in particular are facing much more scrutiny, and even skepticism, than at any point in our shared memory. There are new trends of accountability, including the adoption of various metrics measuring educational outcomes, that require our compliance. Due to our unique status as an independent law school within a larger system, we are responsible for our own institutional research. Thanks to our efforts to reform legal education, we are increasingly looked to as a leader.
Andrea and all of you are integral to these important endeavors. Please join me in welcoming her.
