Student Fees for Next Academic Year (2014-15)
The General Enrollment Fee for all University of California Hastings College of the Law JD students is to remain flat in Academic Year 2014-15. The decision, approved by the UC Hastings Board of Directors at their December 6th meeting, marks the third consecutive year in which this core enrollment fee has been kept frozen at $43,486.
The fee surcharge for nonresidents, established based on state policy guidelines, has been reduced 46% (from $11,225 to $6,000) since 2010-11. The 2014-15 nonresident tuition will be decided and announced at the Board of Directors meeting in March. Tuition and fees are posted to the UC Hastings website, along with the nonresident tuition policy.
I have said before that the American Dream is made possible by the rule of law and the opportunity for higher education. This ideal has been challenged by tuition increases over the past several years. I express my gratitude to the students in the Hastings Advocacy Committee for their strident efforts in Sacramento, and everyone who has spoken out about the benefits and value of their legal education.
We are dedicated to implementing a sustainable tuition policy for high-quality legal education at UC Hastings.
