Environmental Law


Open to 4th, 5th or 6th semester students, spring semester only.

6 units: 2 unit class component and 4 unit fieldwork component, both graded pass-fail.

Prerequisites: Completion of any two of the courses listed in the course catalog under the Environmental Law Area of Study, or one of those courses and the first-year Environmental Law statutory course.

Classroom Component: Meets for three hours one evening per week.

Fieldwork Component: Students are expected to work a minimum of 16 hours per week in placements. Students may apply to any of the recognized placements or seek approval for a new placement; enrollment in the Clinic is contingent upon receiving an offer. Possible placements include: U.S Dept. of Interior; Center for Food Safety; CA Attorney General's Office, Natural Resources Section; Sierra Club; U.S. Dept. of Justice, Environmental & Natural Resources Division; Earthjustice.

To enroll: Enrollment is contingent upon acceptance into a fieldwork placement. Upon receipt of an offer from a placement, you must inform the Externships and Pro Bono Programs office so that you may receive approval to enroll yourself through WebAdvisor.
