Adjunct Professor Donald Ayoob received a joint degree in English Literature and Sociology, with distinction in general scholarship, from U. C. Berkeley. After receiving his J.D. from Hastings, Don began a trial and appellate practice as a deputy public defender in Orange County, California. He then joined the Office of the State Public Defender where he litigated capital appeals and habeas corpus proceedings before the California Supreme Court and the federal courts. As Chief Assistant State Public Defender, Don served on the Committee on CALJIC for 6 years and as an alternate member of the California Council on Criminal Justice Planning for 10 years. In 2010, Gov. Schwarzenegger appointed Professor Ayoob to serve as a Judge of the San Mateo Superior Court.
