Adjunct Professor Cory A. Birnberg received his bachelors degree with honors, from UCLA, and a Masters degree from Cal State University, Dominguez Hills, both in English Literature. Professor Birnberg attended Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and received the American Jurisprudence awards in Evidence and Corporations, Deans honors in 1980, 1981, and 1982 graduating cum laude.
Professor Birnberg practiced with Spector & Leibow, a Los Angeles bankruptcy firm, and then later attended Tulane University, earning a Masters degree in Admiralty. He has practiced in San Francisco since 1984, founding this firm in 1984. The firm specializes in admiralty, maritime, commercial litigation, bankruptcy proceedings, medical malpractice and subrogation. Professor Birnberg has been an adjunct professor of Admiralty law since 2000 at Hastings College of the Law. He is a certified admiralty specialist and member of the State Bar's Admiralty and Maritime Law Advisory Commission. Professor Birnberg's admiralty practice is mainly involved in litigation and he has over the years accrued over 22 published cases with one in the California Supreme Court.
