John D. Wilson is a corporate partner at Shearman & Sterling who specializes in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate governance matters. A former head of the firm's San Francisco office and elected member of the firm's Policy Committee, he has worked as a partner in the firm's New York, Paris and London offices before relocating to San Francisco in 2001. His practice concentrates on a wide range of corporate and securities matters for underwriters as well as domestic and foreign companies, including IPOs, high yield debt, convertible bonds, and investment grade debt, cross-border joint ventures and acquisitions, and advisory matters for boards of directors and special committees.
Professor Wilson graduated from The University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was an Arthur Littleton Legal Writing Instructor, and received his BA, Magna Cum Laude, from Colgate University. He is married to Averel Wilson, a public school teacher in San Francisco, and has three grown children.
