Professor Margaret M. Russell is on the faculty of the Santa Clara University School of Law, where she has taught constitutional law and civil procedure for more than two decades. She has been a visiting professor at UC Hastings College of the Law three times and has also been a visiting professor at the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley. Professor Russell's scholarship focuses on the First Amendment of the U. S. Constitution, and on U.S. civil rights (particularly in the areas of race, gender, and sexual orientation). She is the editor of First Amendment: Freedom of Assembly and Petition (2010). She has been elected to the American Law Institute, and she is a graduate of Princeton University and Stanford Law School.
