
Joanna Weinberg, J.D., LL.M., is Senior Lecturer, UC Hastings College of the Law, and Associate Adjunct Professor, Law, Policy and Ethics, Institute for Health and Aging, UC San Francisco. She received a BA from Brandeis University in 1968, a J.D. from Harvard University in 1972, and an LL.M. in Jurisprudence from Columbia University in 1980. In 2004 she completed a Fellowship in Health Policy Research from the University of California, San Francisco Postdoctoral Program in Health Policy.
Professor Weinberg teaches in the Center for State and Local Government Law, and supervises Judicial Externs in state and federal courts. She serves on a UCSF Institutional Review Board, on community ethics committees, and is a member of the UC Center of Expertise in Women’s Health and Empowerment, where she is an editor of a text, In Justice and in Health, to be published by UC Press in 2013. Her research focuses on interdisciplinary collaboration at the intersection of law, ethics and health policy; and on ethical issues in human subjects’ research. She is presently working on problems related to research with vulnerable populations in developing countries.
