International and Graduate Programs
The mission of the Office of International and Graduate Programs is to globalize the law school by creating opportunities for students and faculty to learn about foreign legal cultures through exchanges, international visitors, and events. Each year approximately 50 foreign lawyers and scholars are in residence at Hastings and about 50 Hastings J.D. students go abroad for legal study in either one-semester programs or in one-year joint J.D./LL.M. programs at a number of distinguished foreign law faculties.
Specifically, the International and Graduate Programs include:
-
Foreign Exchange programs to bring foreign law students to Hastings
-
Visiting Foreign Scholars program to bring foreign Ph.D. candidates and faculty to Hastings for research and teaching
-
International Law Concentration for Hastings J.D. candidates
- East Asian Law Program
-
International Summer Internship Stipend for Hastings J.D. candidates
-
Schlesinger Fellows program for distinguished foreign faculty
- Global Lecture Series and international conferences at Hastings.
The Acting Assistant Dean of International and Graduate Programs is Professor Christian E. Mammen and the Director is Meri West Maffet.
