The two institutions have combined their considerable talents and resources in an effort to inform the law regarding health sciences and to enable health sciences to better serve the public good. “The consortium is dedicated to the creation of research, education, and service opportunities that bridge the gap between law, health care, and medical research. To a great extent, lawyers and health care professionals operate insulated from one another, both in their formal training and daily practice. Yet increasingly the demands of modern law and medical science require a sophisti- cated understanding of the other’s form and function. Lawyers and health care professionals must be well- versed in one another’s vocabulary, and their practices need to be integrated.” —david Faigman, director www.uchastings.edu / UC hastings 15
