Led by Moot Court Director Toni young ’76, the UC Hastings “Mooters” are consistently ranked among the top five programs in the country by the two most prominent Moot Court ranking websites. Each year, Moot Court Competition Team members compete against stu- dents from other law schools in 20 different national and international Moot Court competitions. Students compete at law schools and in cities across the country, where they can take advantage of numerous opportunities to network with law students, professors, and judges from all over the United States. In addition to the various Moot Court Competition teams, the uc hast- ings advocacy Project (haP) gives Moot Court participants the extraordinary opportunity to represent real litigants pro bono before judges at the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, located just blocks from campus. Since the program’s inception in 2009, HAP students have represented clients in cases involving immigration proceedings, prisoner civil rights, foreclosure and hous- ing rights, and employment discrimination. The UC Hastings HAP teams’ recent track record at the Ninth Circuit is picture-perfect; in 2010–11, all three HAP teams who argued cases before the Ninth Circuit prevailed. 18 UC hastings / www.uchastings.edu
