GorGEoUS GETAWAYS If you’re in more of a mountain mood, the Lake Tahoe area is a must for skiers, while campers flock to Yosemite national park to take in its famous waterfalls, ancient giant sequoias, and grand meadows. For a romantic weekend getaway, napa and Sonoma counties offer cozy B&Bs and dozens of vineyard tour and wine-tasting opportunities. 7. ExErCISE AL FrESCo There’s no shortage of ways to work out in the Bay Area’s great out- doors. You can find students jogging along the Embarcadero, playing tennis in Dolores park, or hiking in the marin Headlands. 8. UnDErGroUnD GoUrmET Within blocks of UC Hastings is a wide range of ethnically diverse (and easy-on-the-wallet) eateries, offering everything from Cambodian to California cuisine. Elsewhere in the city, Chinatown, north Beach, Hayes Valley, and Soma are top foodie destinations, as is the mission, where the street food scene is booming. 9. ACCESS ALL ArEAS With an efficient public transit system, San Francisco is easily navigable without a car. But when students do need wheels, car-sharing services such as zipcar and City CarShare are popular options. 10.
