Regalia Rental
The regalia package includes the RENTAL of your academic gown and the blue and gold (for U.C.) and purple doctoral hood. You KEEP your doctoral tam (cap).
ACADEMIC ROBE
High quality, non-disposable gown with purple [for law] chevrons.

Purple velvet on a black field - lined with gold colored fabric, accented with blue stripes.
TAM & TASSEL
Eight-sided velveteen black with dated tassel.
STOLE OF GRATITUDE
Blue stole embellished with the seal of Hastings in gold lettering.
DETAIL
An excellent way to show gratitude and appreciation to those who have provided moral support, encouragement and assistance throughout your law school career. Also a meaningful symbol of your successful three years at Hastings.
Presenters may often write a few words of love and appreciation on the back of the stole using a fine tipped marker. Friends and family of the graduate may autograph the front or back. The Stole of Gratitude is a lasting symbol of love, appreciation and academic accomplishment! Available at the bookstore for $19.95.
Rental Deadlines
Regalia must be ordered by March 26th. After that date there will be a $15.00 LATE FEE (as late gowns must be ordered and shipped separately). A good time to order your cap and gown is at Student Services To-Do Day, Wednesday, March 17th in the bookstore. During To-Do Day a Herff-Jones representative will be on-site to assist you.
Refunds
If you rent and decide later not "to walk" - for any reason - you may obtain a 100% refund, less $10.00, before May 14th if you request the refund before the ceremony. No refunds can be made after the ceremony. No refunds can be made after tickets have been picked up.
Pick up of Cap and Gown
Cap and gown pickup begins the Tuesday before Graduation Day. (Sorry, regalia cannot be shipped). The hours for pickup are Tues-Fri from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ONLY. Regalia can be picked up on the Saturday before graduation by appointment only and not after 12:00 pm. The bookstore is NOT OPEN the Sunday morning before graduation. Regalia not picked up by Saturday will be delivered to the graduation site.
Returning the Gown and Hood
There is no charge for returning gown and hood (remember, you keep your doctoral tam and dated tassel) if you RETURN REGALIA AT THE GRADUATION SITE, ON THE SAME DAY OF THE CEREMONY (after or during the reception). If you wish to keep the gown and hood for a day or two beyond for photographs you may return the regalia to the bookstore for a $5.00 RETURN FEE (shipping must be paid by the bookstore on late returns). You have until May 28th to return. After that you will be assessed a $350.00 replacement fee for NON-RETURN of regalia. BE SURE TO SIGN IN at the time you return your rented regalia.
Caveat
The replacement fee of $350.00 will be assessed to any student who does not return rented regalia after May 28th. This could create a "hold" on your records as these will be billed through the fiscal department. You will be asked to "sign out" when you take your rented regalia. Your signature will constitute understanding of and agreement with the above stated terms.
