April 2010: ABA Section of Dispute Resolution's 12th Annual Spring Conference - April 7-10, Hyatt Regency, San Francisco.  Faculty members Clark Freshman, Grande Lum, Jessica Notini and Rochael Soper will present.  For further information, visit Conference.
March 2010: Adjunct Professor and Hastings alumnus John Dean speaks about his experiences in negotiation and arbitration.  John Dean's career includes negotiating on behalf of management and 13 years negotiating for the Air Line Pilots Association.
Nov 2009: 

Grande Lum lectures on Mediation Advocacy in Silicon Valley November 17.  The lecture is part of a series of Legal Perspectives presented by the Alumni Center.

Mediator Gary Friedman will be speaking at Hastings on November 10, from 3:30-4:30 in the Moot Court Room.  Gary is one of the foremost mediators in the world: he has taught at Harvard, Stanford, and the World Intellectual Property Organization and has trained a large number of mediators in the Bay Area.  Along with his role in teaching negotiation and mediation, he is also a leader in humanizing legal education and has promoted the use of mindfulness and other contemplative practices at retreats for lawyers from across the United States. On Tuesday November 3, from 3:30-4:30, a one-hour video of his mediation produced by the Harvard Negotiation Project entitled Saving the Last Dance will be shown in Classroom B. 

Oct 2009:  CNDR co-sponsors the California Dispute Resolution Council's 16th Annual Dispute Resolution Policy Conference on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Grande Lum presents at 4th Cologne Summer Academy on Business Negotitation and Mediation.

Jun 2009:

Clark Freshman presents "Jury Selection, Lie Detection and Beyond: The Science of Cross-Cultural Emotional Awareness" to the San Francisco Public Defender's Office and the Marin County Public Defender's Office. 

May 2009:

Grande Lum presents "Negotiating and Resolving Problems Collaboratively" at the League of California Cities' Mayors & Council Members Executive Forum in San Diego, CA. 

The Multi-option ADR Project of the San Mateo Court that Sheila Purcell directs is a 2009 Recipient of an Administrative Office of the Courts Award for Innovation in Public Service, called the "Kleps" Award.

Apr 2009: 

Clark Freshman presents Emotional Truthfullness and Lie Detection in Negotiation: Science, Culture and Skills at the ABA's Section of Dispute Resolution's 11th Annual Spring Conference in New York City. 

Mar 2009:

Melissa Nelken presents with Erick Hung, M.D. at Mental Health Symposium Addressing Law Student Mental Health Issues at UC Hastings College of the Law.

Martin Quinn elected President of the Academy of Court Appointed Special Masters.

Feb 2009:  Hastings' CNDR hosts the Northern California ADR Faculty Conference, featuring Russell Korobkin, Marta Vides Saade, Stephanie Smith and Janet Martinez. 

Jan 2009: 

Former Hastings Professor Wayne Brazil wins ABA-Dispute Resolution Section's D'Alemberte-Raven Award. 

Sheila Purcell speaks at the American Association of Law Schools' annual conference in San Diego, CA on the topic "Envisioning Dispute Resolution in 2050 (Or Even 2025) and Preparing Our Students for It."

Nov 2008: 

Clark Freshman presents at the Southern California Mediation Association's 20th Annual Conference at Pepperdine University.

Oct 2008:  Melissa Nelken co-presents "NGI Evaluations Under California Case Law: Clarification or Confusion?" at the American Academy of Psychiatry and Law's Annual Meeting in Seattle, WA.
Sep 2008:  Hastings' CNDR hosts its Negotiation Salon, featuring Clark Freshman presenting his work in progress, "Managing the Goal Setting Paradox: How to Get Better Results From High Goals and Be Happy."
