You will find information and tips to help you maximize the use of your desktop and laptop computers. We welcome your comments and suggestions. NEW Instructions for Mac Mail and Exchange at Hastings and Instructions for iPhone and Hastings Email

Information for new students. Please refer to this one-page overview to answer questions about Email, Computer Exams, Buying a Computer, etc. One of our prime goals in IT is to help students learn to use computer technology both in their law school and future careers. (Updated June 2008).

Outlook Email for all students, staff and faculty. We are currently using Microsoft Exchange Server for our Email system. Please refer to the Hastings Email Guide page for links to pertinent information.

Computer Exams. For students who wish to use computers for typing their exams this semester, please refer to the following pages: Overview pageSpring 2008 detailed instructions, Waiver Agreement form, Internet Take-Home Exam information. Exams are: wireless only (no floppy disks); Intel Macs OK; new waiver agreement form; simplified Internet take-home instructions.

Computer Check Up. If you have a PC running Windows, you may want to check it over using these helpful hints from the IT staff. We've found that performing these steps can help eliminate the most common problems students encounter.

Students Buying Computers. Student computer purchases. Hastings students continue to be eligible for participation in a unique program at the UC Berkeley campus called The Scholar's Workstation. This program sells computer hardware and software at educational discounts. They also offer after-sale support to Hastings students, faculty and staff. Wireless Network at Hastings. Wireless is available on all residential floors and common areas in the 100 McAllister Tower, including the 24th floor Skyroom. Also, 802.11b/g WiFi access exists in all student-accessible areas in the 198 and 200 McAllister Street buildings. Read the Wireless FAQ.

Email Forwarding Service. Read the instructions on how to have your email forwarded.

Lost Email Password? If you have forgotten your Email password, pick up a form in the SIC (first floor, 200 McAllister), fill it out and return it to Security. Within three business days, you will have your new password.

Hastings Student Computer Support Policy. COMPUTER HELP FOR STUDENTS If you have computer and/or email questions, you can always email us at studentcomputers@uchastings.edu. You can also stop by the LRC during our computer help open house every Tuesday between 3:30 and 4:30 pm. Finally, you can call us at 415.581.8802 to make an appointment, option 1 (appointments are available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). We'll call you back as soon as we can.
