Adjunct Professor Donald Ayoob received his joint degree in English Literature and Sociology, with distinction in general scholarship, from the University of California at Berkeley. After receiving his J.D. from Hastings, Professor Ayoob began a trial and appellate practice as a deputy public defender in Orange County, California. Now as Chief Assistant State Public Defender, he litigates capital appeals and habeas corpus proceedings before the California Supreme Court and the federal courts. Professor Ayoob served on the Committee on CALJIC for six years and has been an alternate member of the California Council on Criminal Justice Planning since 2000.
