Buck Delventhal
Adjunct Professor Buck Delventhal is the lead attorney of the General Government Division of the San Francisco City Attorney's Office. In that capacity he is responsible for oversight of the deputy city attorneys who advise boards, commissions, and elected and appointed officers and employees of the City. The General Government Division provides advice on a wide range of constitutional, legislative and administrative issues, including interpretation of the City's Charter. Among its client agencies are the Mayor and the Board of Supervisors. Litigation on matters that involve primarily questions of law are handled in the General Government Division. Professor Delventhal has argued several cases before the California Supreme Court, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Professor Delventhal graduated from UC Davis in 1966 where he received a BA in International Relations. He graduated from UC Hastings in 1969, Order of the Coif and Member of Thurston Society. He began working for the San Francisco City Attorney in 1970. He has been a frequent lecturer at the League of California Cities, the County Counsels Association and the Municipal Law Institute.
