Michael Flynn
Adjunct Professor Michael Flynn has taught at UC Hastings since 2007, and has loved every minute of it. An Iowan by birth, he went east to study ancient history at Tufts University, spent a year studying at University College London and working as a research assistant for Parliament, and finally headed west to attend Hastings. During law school, he externed in the Law and Motion Department of the San Francisco Superior Court, and later for California Supreme Court Justice Carlos R. Moreno. Michael coached and competed on several champion intercollegiate moot court teams.
Since graduation, Michael has practiced in a variety of areas of law. He served as a Legal Research Attorney for the Civil and Appellate Divisions of the San Francisco Superior Court, worked as a Litigation Associate for Goldstein, Gellman, Melbostad, Gibson & Harris, acted as General Counsel for Celect.org, and then worked as a Regional Director for Kaplan PMBR. In addition, Michael created and hosted the podcast, Legal Lad's Quick and Dirty Tips for a More Lawful Life.
Currently, Michael serves on the faculty of Santa Clara University School of Law where he teaches in the Legal Writing Department. He is also a panel attorney for the California Appellate Project and Sixth District Appellate Program, where he represents indigent criminal appellants.
He enjoys theatre, opera, yoga, hiking, grilling, biking, and baking.
