Michael Gaitley
Adjunct Professor Michael Gaitley is a Senior Staff Attorney at the Legal Aid Society – Employment Law Center (“LAS-ELC”). He supervises the LAS-ELC’s Bay Area Workers’ Rights Clinics, which provide basic information and referrals to approximately 2000 low-income workers annually. His LAS-ELC practice focuses exclusively on labor and employment law, with an emphasis on issues particularly affecting low-income employees, such as unpaid wages and employment discrimination.
Professor Gaitley is a 1984 graduate of Pace University Law School. He received his undergraduate degree in 1979 from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the New York and California bars, and the Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom.
Professor Gaitley is a regular speaker on a variety of employment law topics, including general workers’ rights, sexual orientation discrimination, labor law, unemployment insurance and workers’ compensation. He has been a periodic commentator/guest on public affairs segments on local radio, including employment law updates and Q&A for monolingual Chinese-speaking workers on Chinese-language radio.
