Ephraim Margolin
Adjunct Professor Margolin attended Hebrew University in Jerusalem and received his EBA in 1949. He received his LL.B. in 1952 from Yale Law School. Professor Margolin is presently a criminal defense lawyer who practices in San Francisco. He has represented 130 judges before the Commission on Judicial Performance and numerous lawyers before the State Bar of California. He has also represented the State of Israel, United States of Mexico, California Assembly, California Department of Transportation, California Public Utilities Commission, Bank of America, City of Fresno, Butte County, City and County of San Francisco, Baker & McKenzie, Lieff, Cabraser & Heimann, John Gotti (on appeal), Charles Ng, Lyle Menendez, Frederick N. Woods (Chowchilla Kidnapping Case) Parole Litigation. In 2003, he argued the medical marijuana defense before Judge Breyer in the Federal Northern District Court. He served as an adjunct professor at Boalt Hall for twenty years. He is the founder and first president of California Attorneys for Criminal Justice (the California criminal defense bar) and has been a Past President of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and recipient of their Lifetime Achievement Award (2002). Professor Margolin is a Past President of the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers. He has authored numerous articles and books on criminal defense issues.
