Carol Opotow
Adjunct Professor Carol Opotow graduated from UC Hastings College of the Law.
While at Hastings she published a note in the Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly
and served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Joseph R. Grodin of the California
Court of Appeal.
Following graduation, Professor Opotow was a litigation associate at Pillsbury
Madison & Sutro (currently Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman) in San Francisco, and
taught Legal Writing & Research at Hastings. After time off to raise a family, she
went back to work at the San Francisco firm Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk
& Rabkin in the area of Professional Responsibility. That position included
preparation of numerous Minimum Continuing Legal Education ethics lectures on
such topics as forming the attorney‐client relationship, conflicts for corporate
lawyers, corporate privilege issues, and California ex parte communications rules.
Currently, Professor Opotow serves as a trustee of private trusts with responsibility
for hiring and supervising legal counsel, investment managers, and accountants.
She is a member of the State Bar of California and teaches Professional
Responsibility.
