Gary Watt
Adjunct Professor Gary A. Watt is a partner with Archer Norris in Walnut Creek and a member of the firm's appellate practice team. Professor Watt handles writs and appeals in all the state appellate courts, including the Supreme Court, and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is also the supervising attorney for the Hastings Appellate Project, the clinical program in which Hastings students handle appeals in the Ninth Circuit.
Professor Watt has been teaching appellate brief writing and oral advocacy at Hastings since 2000. Since 1999, he has been the faculty coach of Hastings' team in the National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition held in New York. In 2005, his team won the national championship. Hastings was included in the inaugural, invitation-only Moot Court National Championship in Houston in 2009, and Professor Watt was tapped to coach the team, which came in 3rd in the nation. He continues to coach the Houston competition team.
