Professor Helen Chang received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her J.D. from Southern Methodist University in 1982. She then returned to her hometown of San Francisco and practiced a wide range of civil litigation including construction, professional liability, securities, and probate. She has taken many cases to both trial and arbitration. She has held various administrative positions at Golden Gate University School of Law including Interim Dean of Students and Interim Director of the LL.M Tax Program. She has also tutored students for the California Bar Exam and has lectured for Themis Bar Review in the areas of Community Property and writing for the California essay questions and performance test.
Professor Chang has been a member of the faculty at Golden Gate University since 1991 and has taught a number of different courses including Criminal Law, Family Law, Community Property, Property, Advanced Torts, and International Criminal Law which she taught in Bangkok, Thailand. She has written in the area of gender and family law and is a court appointed special advocate for children in the foster care system.
