Academic CV
Ben Depoorter is a graduate of Yale Law School (LL.M., 2003). He also holds a J.D. and Ph.d from Ghent University and a Master’s degree from Hamburg University. Before he began teaching law, Professor Depoorter served as an editor of the of the Yale Journal of Regulation and conducted research as a John M. Olin Fellow in Law, Economics, and Public Policy at Yale Law School. He was a Santander Research Fellow at U.C. Berkeley and a recipient of BAEF and Fulbright scholarships.
Professor Depoorter has authored over twenty scholarly publications, including recent and forthcoming articles in Duke Law Journal, Oregon Law Review, Supreme Court Economic Review, International Review of Law and Economics, and the Journal of Institutional and Theoretical Economics. Over recent years he has presented his writings at conferences and seminars at Yale Law School, Duke Law School, U.C. Berkeley, Univ. of Toronto Law School, Univ. of Texas School of Law, George Mason Law School, Univ. of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Law, and Boston University School of Law.
Professor Depoorter’s research focus is on intellectual property law, the role of litigation and settlements in society, and the impact of technological developments on legal change.
