Ethan J. Leib, Associate Professor of Law

Ethan J. Leib joined the Hastings faculty after clerking for (then) Chief Judge John M. Walker, Jr., of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and litigating at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, in New York City.  He has spent semesters at Brooklyn Law School (Fall 2007) and at Columbia Law School (Spring 2009) and will be teaching at UC Berkeley's law school in Spring 2010.  He is an Affliated Faculty Member at the Kadish Center for Morality, Law & Public Affairs at UC Berkeley and is currently on the Board of Scholars for the Initiative & Referendum Institute at the University of Southern California School of Law (2008-2010).

He lives with partner Zoe Schonfeld, daughter Clementine, son Gershon, and bull terrier Zeke.

Courses Taught: Contracts, Constitutional Law I, Legislation, Statutory Interpretation, and the Administrative State

What I hope you get from a legal education at Hastings is... an ethical, theoretically-enriched, and still practical orientation to the law in action.
