Lois W. Schwartz, Lecturer in Law
Lois Schwartz entered Boalt Hall (Berkeley Law School) in 1986 at the age of forty, and every day thanks her lucky stars that she accepted the challenge. Her career began in private practice and quickly led to teaching. Her professional life has taken unconventional twists and turns, including a hiatus from academia in 2001 to complete a judicial clerkship in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, a stint with the Public Defender's Office, and a position with the Contra Costa County Staff Attorneys' Office. It is her goal in teaching to integrate academic understanding and practical skills.
She is also proud to be one of many UC Hastings fans of The Big Lebowski.
Courses Taught: Wills & Trusts, Remedies, Property, California Civil Procedure, Community Property, Education Law (statutory course), Estate Drafting, LL.M. Introduction to Law, Critical Studies II, Ethics, Moot Court, and Legal Writing & Research
What I hope you get from a legal education at Hastings is... abundant options to do much good in the world and to do well at the same time.
