Betsy Candler is the Director of the Legal Research and Writing Program for LL.M. students at Berkeley Law. Ms. Candler is also a mediator and consultant, focusing on restorative practices and community conflicts. Prior to becoming a mediator, she worked for over a decade in criminal defense. Ms. Candler has litigated felonies and misdemeanors, conducting numerous jury trials in California and Georgia. For five years, she represented individuals sentenced to death in California in state post-conviction proceedings. Ms. Candler is a graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Law. She is on the Board of Directors of SEEDS Community Resolution Center and the Albany Berkeley Girls Softball League.
