Adjunct Professor Juliana Fredman is a staff attorney in the consumer unit at Bay Area Legal Aid (BayLegal). Professor Fredman represents low income people in cases related to student loans, debt collection, foreclosures, unfair business practices, bankruptcy and a variety of other services. She represents clients in both affirmative and defensive capacity in a wide range of consumer matters. Professor Fredman has particular expertise in student loan law, including bases for discharge of federal student loans and alleviating the impact of predatory for-profit colleges on low income students. To this end, in 2015, she organized numerous clinics throughout the Bay Area to assist former students following the mass closure of the Corinthian Colleges in California.
Professor Fredman is a 2011 graduate, cum laude, of UC Hastings College of the Law, Public Interest Concentration and holds an LL.M., with distinction, in Human Rights Law from Queens University in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
