Adjunct Professor Tal Klement received his B.A. in History for U.C. Berkeley. He attended Yale Law School and Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, graduating from both programs with a J.D. / MPP in 2001. After law school he clerked for Justice Carlos Moreno at the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles and then at the California Supreme Court. After clerking, he worked as a public defender in Seattle and he has been a Deputy Public Defender in San Francisco since 2003. At the public defender's office he is assigned to the felony unit. He has conducted numerous jury trials, ranging from theft to sexual assault and homicide. He has also published articles on racial disparity in law enforcement and the War on Drugs, and was previously a member of the board of the ACLU of Northern California.
