Visiting Faculty
Our faculty is energized by a mix of highly qualified newcomers bearing clerkships with Supreme Court Justices and Court of Appeals judges, and stalwarts whose credits include major writings and widely-used textbooks. Our students appreciate the emphasis we put on teaching. "At Hastings," noted Professor Roger Park, "my colleagues talk about how to teach, how to teach better, and how to introduce novel approaches like computer-based courses and multimedia techniques."
Whatever their prowess in the classroom, members of the faculty are no less productive in writing law review articles, preparing treatises on crucial legal issues, and publishing textbooks considered the standards in the field, used extensively not only at Hastings but in law schools around the country and even abroad.
"In any number of instances," observed Professor Richard B. Cunningham, "you're likely to be taking a class from the professor who wrote the book."
Distinguished Faculty
Hastings strives to build upon its great tradition of having a nationally renowned faculty of teachers and scholars. Securing the endowment of named chairs and distinguished professorships is among its most important ongoing endeavors. Aided by the significant support that has been - and continues to be - made available the generosity of far-sighted benefactors within the College's extended family, Hastings can retain nationally distinguished faculty from whose presence we benefit and can bring to campus those foremost in their respective legal fields. The vital role of endowed chairs and professorships enriches students' academic experiences and enhances our thriving scholarly community.
