ABA Diversity Fellowship in Environmental Law: The American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources is pleased to announce the sponsorship of several Fellowships in Environmental Law for disadvantaged law students during the summer of 2009. The fellowship is a $5,000 summer stipend (8-10 week minimum) for work on legal matters for a government agency or public interest organization working in the fields of environmental, energy or resources law. ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund: The scholarship is intended to encourage racial and ethnic minority students to apply to law school and to provide financial assistance the these students. Recipients will be selected based on their qualifications for the scholarship and not on the law school they plan to attend.

American Indian Graduate Center: Founded in 1969 to help open doors to graduate education and to help tribes obtain the educated professionals they need to become more self-sufficient and exercise their rights to self-determination. Chicana Latina Scholarship Fund: Applicants must be Chicana/Latina women who are enrolled in accredited colleges, universities and community colleges in the one of the following counties (Alameda Sacramento, Solano, Contra Costa, San Francisco, Sonoma, Marin, San Mateo, Yolo, Monterey, Santa Clara, Napa, or Santa Cruz). Applicants must also have been a resident for at least two years in one of the aforementioned counties. All candidates must have demonstrated leadership and civic/community involvement. All scholarship recipients are required to attend the Leadership Institute and must agree, if awarded a scholarship, to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours in the next year in support of the Chicana/Latina Foundation.

Hastings Public Interest Law Foundation (HPILF) Summer Grant: Every year, HPILF works to provide summer grants of up to $4,000 for Hastings students pursuing a summer job in the field of Public Interest. HPILF summer grants are primarily meant for applicants with financial need arising from their employer's inability to fund summer work. Applicants must articulate how their summer work will serve the public interest. HPILF uses a broad definition of public interest when determining which applicants and organizations are eligible for funding. Students working with organizations including 501(c)(3) non profit organizations, govenments agencies, international organizations, and advocacy or policy groups are all eligible.
