AAUW (American Association of Univesity Women) San Francisco Silver Jubilee Scholarship:
The San Francisco AAUW branch will offer two scholarships of $2,000 each to help upper division and graduate school women complete their final year of study in an accredited college or university for the school year 2012-13. Candidates must live or be attending a university or college within a 100-mile distance of San Francisco and be on track to complete their course study by June 2011. ABA Diversity Fellowship in Environmental Law: The American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources is pleased to announce the sponsorship of several Fellowships in Environmental Law for disadvantaged law students during the summer of 2009. The fellowship is a $5,000 summer stipend (8-10 week minimum) for work on legal matters for a government agency or public interest organization working in the fields of environmental, energy or resources law.  Alia Herrera Memorial Scholarship: THe scholarship is open to American Association for Justice Law Student members who are entering their second or third year of law school, or have had the equivalent of one year to complete.

American Indian Graduate Center: Founded in 1969 to help open doors to graduate education and to help tribes obtain the educated professionals they need to become more self-sufficient and exercise their rights to self-determination. Scholarships are awarded to full time students who demonstrate financial need and are an enrolled member of a federally recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native group, or possess one fourth degree federally recognized Indian blood.

The essay must be the student's original, unpublished work. Essay Topic: Compare U.S. and Canadian law in an area of law of your choice. Format: The essay must not exceed 2000 words (including endnotes, no footnotes). Include citations and endnotes where reasonably appropriate in order to aid readers. Chicana Latina Scholarship Fund: Applicants must be Chicana/Latina women who are enrolled in accredited colleges, universities and community colleges in the one of the following counties (Alameda Sacramento, Solano, Contra Costa, San Francisco, Sonoma, Marin, San Mateo, Yolo, Monterey, Santa Clara, Napa, or Santa Cruz). Applicants must also have been a resident for at least two years in one of the aforementioned counties. All candidates must have demonstrated leadership and civic/community involvement. All scholarship recipients are required to attend the Leadership Institute and must agree, if awarded a scholarship, to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours in the next year in support of the Chicana/Latina Foundation.

Announcing the Summer Corps Program. This will provide 700 law students the opportunity to earn an AmericCorps education award voucher for dedicating their summer to a qualifying legal project at a nonprofit public interest organization. Richard D. Hailey AAJ Law Student Scholarship: These scholarships are open to African American, Hispanic, Asian American, Native American and Bi-Racial AAJ Law Student Members. Scholarships will be awarded to the applicants who best meet the criteria listed, but not limited to: interest and proficiency of skills in trial advocacy; desire to represent victims; demonstrated commitment to AAJ and dedication to its mission through involvement in an AAJ student chapter and Minority Caucus activities; and financial need.

Rosenthal Bar Exam Scholarship (California Bar Foundation):
The Rosenthal Bar Exam Scholarship provides financial support to outstanding graduating California law students who are embarking on careers in public service law. Winners will receive California Bar/Bri Law Review Bar Exam review courses and/or $2,000 in cash to help defray fees and related expenses of taking the California Bar Exam. Roy A. Gustafson Scholarship: Awards are made each year to law students who have graduated from a public or private high school in Ventura County. Students must have completed the first year of law school at an accredited college or university in the State of California, and will be continuing also having financial need. San Mateo Women Lawyers' Section Educational Foundation: Scholarships are available to all law students, both male and female. Applicants must have residence or other ties to San Mateo County, have financial need, exhibit academic excellence and be involved in community activities. Applicants should submit a letter stating their qualifications for the award and information about why they should be selected. Include in the letter, or as a separate attachment, all law school scholarships received and in what amounts, specify how the law school education is being financed, and include a copy of the current law school transcript. Selma Moidel Smith Law Student Writing Competition: The National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) established the annual competition for all law students. Entrants should submit a paper on an issue concerning women's rights or the status of women in the law. Essays must be typed on a 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper, double-spaced in 12-point font, Times New Roman font type. Margins must be at least one inch, and not exceed 15 pages of text. A cover letter must accompany the essay with title, school affiliation, email address, phone number, and mailing address. Entry must be submitted electronically to jmartin@stu.edu, and by mail to NAWL, American Bar Center, MS 15.2, 321 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60610. Sidney B. Williams Jr. Scholarship: The scholarship is intended to assist under-represented minority students who intend to enter the intellectual property law field to attend law school. The scholarship awards are given for at least one academic year and are renewable. Scholarship is administered by the Thurgood Marshall Colle Fund. Switzer Environmental Fellowship Program: The goal of the Switzer foundation is to mobilize leaders from diverse disciplines to focus on integrated solutions to environmental issues. Candidates for the Fellowship should demonstrate leadership potential and be able to clearly communicate their objectives for applying their technical or professional expertise to environmental issues after graduation. Takasugi Fellowship: The Fellowship will fund the selected fellows' work in an amount up to $5,000 for the summer. All fellows must work at a public interest "sponsoring" organization, subject to approval by the Fellowship. In the past, the Fellowship has approved organizations classified as 501(c)(3)s (by the IRS Code) and public defenders' offices. The organization must be in either the San Francisco Bay Area or the Greater Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. The fellows must work at a sponsoring organization for at least ten weeks during the summer.

Students will work with a mentor attorney and observe and participate in all aspects of a plaintiffs' trial practice including depositions, trial preparation, motion hearings, trials, and mediations.
