Direct Deposit

 Currently registered students are eligible for Direct Deposit/E-Check. Direct Deposit/E-Check is a free and convenient service Hastings offers to its students which is administered by the Office of Fiscal Services. Through Direct Deposit/E-Check, funds due to students are electronically credited to the student's designated bank account where they have immediate access to the funds. This service is particularly convenient for Hastings students studying outside of the bay area and abroad.

If students do not sign up for direct deposit/E-Check, funds due are issued via paper checks, which are available in the Office of Fiscal Services.

Types of funds which can be electronically deposited to students include:

  • Excess student loan process - as the College receives student loan proceeds from Stafford and other private loan lenders, they are credited to the student's tuition and fee account. Any balances owed from tuition and fees are paid and there are often excess funds due to the student. These funds, typically used by students for living expenses, can be issued to the student via an electronic deposit transaction.
  • Travel and other reimbursements - students who travel on College business (e.g., Moot Court competition) and/or who incur costs associated with activities of student organizations for which reimbursement is authorized can also receive these payments via Direct Deposit/E-Check.
  • Paychecks - student employees can sign up for Direct Deposit of their salaries and wages with Human Resources, Room 111, 198 McAllister Street. Do not use the link below.

Students who sign up for Direct Deposit/E-Check should be aware that:

  • Funds will not be released electronically if there is a hold on their record;
  • Rejected deposits will result in your Direct Deposit/E-Check application being cancelled and all future proceeds will be issued via paper checks until a new Direct Deposit/E-Check Authorization form is submitted to the Office of Fiscal Services;
  • If you withdraw or take a leave of absence, your Direct Deposit/E-Check will be cancelled;
  • If Hastings has determined that an electronic deposit was issued in error, it reserves the right to retract the deposit from your account;
  • They should wait to withdraw funds until such deposits have been confirmed.
