Study Room Instructions
HOW To RESERVE A STUDY ROOM FOR YOUR STUDY GROUP
***Study Rooms are Not To Be Used For Take Home Exams***
Students may sign-up for study rooms starting Monday, April 23, 2012 to begin using the study rooms on Wednesday, April 23, 2012 through Friday, May 11, 2012. Study Rooms are reserveable only during the exam period for study groups of THREE (3) or more students.
The SIC Office is open Monday through Friday from 8am-4:30pm, therefore study room requests for the weekend should be made within these business hours. Unless a student study group can provide a confirmation sheet or e-mail for a study room they wish to obtain, the available study rooms will be a "free for all" for first come first served students. during the weekends and weekdays after business hours.
All study rooms have pre-determined 2 hour time blocks coordinating with the building hours. (For example, if the building opens at 8am, the reserveable time is 8am-10am, 10am-12pm, 12pm-2pm and etc. If the building hours start at 9am, the reserveable time would be 9am-11am, 11am-1pm, 1pm-3pm and so forth and so on. ) (Please see Law Library Hours for regular building hours and hours during the holiday break.) Study groups may reserve max of two time blocks (total of 4 consecutive hours) per day.
The following rooms listed below are available to be requested for a group study session.
In 200 Building:
Library Rooms 410, 411 in the 200 Building.
Library Rooms 510, 511, 512, 560, 561, 562 in the 200 Building
Library Rooms 610, 611, 612, 645, 646, 647 in the 200 Building.
Note: Library Room 412 is now reserved for Dog Therapy. There will be a trainer and a dog in this room. If you are stressed and need a break, please stop by and visit a man's best friend. For more information regarding the Dog Therapy Room, please go to Dog Therapy website.
Instructions for Reserving Study Space for Study Group:
- To view the library study room chart of dates and times of when each room is not available, please click on 4th Floor, 5th Floor, 6th Floor (Charts will be changing constantly due to daily incoming requests.)
- To request a study room to use for today, please stop by the SIC Office to make your request and you will receive the confirmation immediately.
- If you are making a request for a study room for a future date, please send an e-mail to sic@uchastings.edu listing the first and last names of at least two members in your study group including yourself and the dates and times you are interested in reserving. Also indicate which location you would like to use.
- Confirmation will be e-mailed back to the requester within 24-48 business hours. (Bring confirmation with you when you arrive to the study room.)
PLEASE NOTE:
- SIC reserves the right to alter or limit any time or room depending on availability. (You may inform us of your interest in certain study rooms but this does not guarantee that you will get this study room.)
- SIC will choose a room for you if one has not been selected.
- SIC will assign rooms on a first come frist served basis. (We will do our best to accomodate the schedule you requested.)
- If your first, second and third choice of room is not available, SIC will assign another location for you.
- If you would like to change or cancel any of your requests, please send an e-mail to sic@uchastings.edu indicating your request to cancel or change your current request.
Once a study room has been reserved we will not be able to remove the study group even if they do not show up for their study time. However, if there is a room that looks currently available, you may come to the SIC Office and check to see if the room is actually reserved. If the room has not been reserved you may proceed to do so at the SIC window providing that you have 3 or more members. (This option of reserving at the SIC window is only available for the current study day.)
In 198 Building: The following rooms are open to all for study space.
Rooms A, B, ,B1, B2, D, E, H, and K.
The Gold Reading Rooms will be available after 7pm as a first come first served basis.
After 7pm, Seminar Rooms 201, 205, 218, 219, 304, 308, 312, 314, 307A, 307C, and M120 will be open to all for studying.
Please do not assume you have the study room until you have received a confirmation e-mail.
