Teaching with Technology Workshop

Over the past few years, we have conducted a series of presentations for faculty on the topic of teaching with technology. In the field of legal education (not to mention the larger academic arena), there is a groundswell of interest, debate, experimentation and conflicting points of view about the use of technology in and out of the classroom. Many Hastings faculty are experimenting with course web pages, class discussion groups, and in-class presentations. On the horizon for many law schools are e-learning initiatives, such as distance learning or asynchonous course web sites.

My intent with these pages is to present information on different technologies with the goal of developing strategies for including new techniques that improve student learning both in and out of the classroom. Professor Richard Cunningham calls this "technology that supplements as opposed to supplants" the classroom experience. I am always on the lookout for "best practices" here at Hastings and in other law schools, as well as developments in higher education in general.

Faculty are welcome to send suggestions and comments and ideas for future topics. Please feel free to email me at: noblee@uchastings.edu.
