How to Install McAfee VirusScan Enterprise + AntiSpyware Enterprise 8.8

Before Installing

• Save your data and close any running applications.
• Uninstall any other anti-virus programs your computer has (use the Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel).

Notices

To prevent your computer from being infected by spyware/malware you must add the settings to Anti-Spyware Maximum Protection in the settings below (Here is a link) in McAfee Access Protection in the McAfee Console.

When installing and running Softest you must disable McAfee Access Protection. Instruction can be found below.

To install programs or updates except Windows or Office updates you must disable McAfee Access Protection first. Instructions can be found below. 

How to turn off McAfee Access Protection:

Once McAfee 8.8 is installed you will have to turn off the Access Protection component of McAfee 8.8 to install future software. You can disable access protection by right clicking the McAfee shield in the Tray, choose VirusScan Console… then select the Access Protection and click the red square. To enable Access Protection open the VirusScan Console and click the Green Triangle. McAfee Access Protection will be disabled until you manually enable it, this includes re-boots.

Installing

Right click on the vscan88i.exe file you downloaded; from the menu that comes up, choose “Run as administrator.” If you get a message that the publisher could not be verified, click the Run button.



In Vista and you will need to click the “Allow” button if a User Account Control warning message comes up. In Windows 7 you need to click the “Yes” button if a User Account Control warning message comes up.

A window similar to the one below will appear. To install click Yes.

If you have Windows Defender installed, click Yes to remove it.

Click Next to begin the setup wizard.

Select 1 Year Subscription for License expiry type. Accept the terms of the license agreement (after reading them), then click OK.

If you have a previous version of McAfee VirusScan installed, a window popups with a Previous Version Detected message. Click Next to remove the previous version, then start the installation again

Choose Typical setup type. Press Next.

Select Standard Protection level, then click Next.

Click Install.

Check the Update Now box (you must be connected to the Internet). Click Finish.

To complete the installation you will need to restart your computer.  

Anti-Spyware/Anti-Malware Settings

After the Restart of the computer open the McAfee Console by right clicking the McAfee Tray Icon and selecting VirusScan Console

Double Click Access Protection:

Under the Category Anti-spyware Maximum Protection click and put a check in the Block column next to the Rules; Prevent all programs from running files from the Temp folder and Prevent execution of scripts from the Temp folder.

Click Ok.

After the reboot the McAfee V shield icon will appear in the lower-right tray on your screen. VirusScan automatically checks for updates every day at 5pm. If you ever want to do a Manual Update, right click on the V shield icon and select Update Now…

Also, at any time, you can perform a scan of all your local disk drives. This may take some time depending on the size of disks you have. To do the On-Demand Scan, right click on the V shield icon, select On-Demand Scan…
