How to Search for State Cases


Click on the “Search” tab. Click on the “Legal” tab underneath “Search.”

Scroll down until you see “State Legal – US."  Click on “California” underneath it in blue hyperlinked text.


Narrow search by state

On the next screen, click “View More Sources” or “Find Cases” to locate more sources.

On the next screen, choose your database.  Click on the text “CA Published Cases, Combined” for all California Cases.  Click on the text “CA Supreme Court Cases from 1850” for Supreme Court cases.

After you have chosen your database, you are ready to run a search.  On the search page, choose either "natural language" or "terms and connectors."  Type your search terms and click “Search."
