Search For Articles In Secondary Sources


Log in and navigate to the “Law School” tab.  Look for the “Secondary Sources” box.

If you cannot find the secondary source you need in the listed sources, click “Edit” in the box to the right of the words “Secondary Sources.” In the “Add Database” Box that comes up, type “ALR, WITSUM, CAJUR” then click “Add."

This will add those databases to your “Secondary Sources” box.  Click on the text of a specific database to search within it.


  • For American Law Reports (ALR), click on the text “American Law Reports.”
  • For Witkin, click on the text “Summary of California Law.”
  • For California Jurisprudence (CaJur), click on “California Jurisprudence.”

It will take you to a page where you can enter search terms. If you wish to combine databases to create a combined search, or change databases, you can click on “Change Database(s)” on the right hand side of the screen.

You can add a database, for example, “WITSUM.” Then click on “Update Database Selection.”

This will allow you to search in both databases at once.

Now you are ready to run a search.  On the search page, choose either “natural language” or “terms and connectors.”  Type your search terms and click “Search Westlaw."
