How To Search For Statutes
Log in and navigate to the "Law School" tab.
If you have a federal question, click on the blue hyperlinked text, “USCA” right next to the “United States Code Annotated” option.
After choosing the database by clicking on “USCA” or simply checking the box next to “United States Code Annotated,” you may begin your search.
If you have a California question, click on the “California” tab on the top of your page.
Scroll down until you see the box called “Statutes and Legislative Materials.”
A good way to search is by clicking the gray square next to “California Statutes Annotated.”
Then you can conduct your search in the search box above.
Now you are ready to run a search.
On the search page, choose either "natural language" or "terms and connectors." Type in your search terms and click “Search."

You can also browse the table of contents. Below the Search Text box, you will see a list of chapters proceeded by a box with a plus next to it.
You can click on the plus signs to drill down to your area of interest. Once you see blue hyperlinked text, you have reached a section with no further subdivisions.
You can click on the blue hyperlinked text to read that section of the code.
