How are genetic technologies reshaping the world? How does the use of reproductive technologies to prevent the birth of children with certain disabilities affect existing communities of people with disabilities? Hear these provocative questions and more discussed during the Lawrence and Sherrie Nagin Lecture Series on the Social, Ethical, and Legal Implications of Human Reproductive and Genetic Technologies. 

Primarily organized by Professor Osagie Obasogie, the six-part series, which is sponsored by a generous gift from Lawrence '65 and Sherrie Nagin, will feature nationally acclaimed experts from a variety of disciplines. Each speaker will provide different perspectives on the promise and potential perils posed by new reproductive and genetic technologies with an emphasis on the impact they may have on women, racial minorities and disabled communities.

Below is the schedule for the entire lecture series. All of the Nagin Lectures begin at 12 p.m., unless otherwise indicated below.

January 26 at 3:30 p.m. - Dr. David Jones, associate professor of the history and culture of science and technology at MIT

February 10 - Dr. Neil Risch, professor of biopharmaceutical sciences at UCSF 

February 17 - Dr. Troy Duster, professor of sociology at New York University and UC Berkeley 

March 4 at 3:30 p.m. - Dr. Marsha Saxton, senior researcher at the World Institute on Disability 

March 17 - John Robertson, professor at the University of Texas, School of Law

March 24 - Lori Andrews, distinguished professor and director of the Institute for Science, Law & Technology at the Chicago-Kent College of Law
