Start: 3/19/2010 from 8:30 AM to
5:00 PM
Location: 200 McAllister, Alumni Reception Center
The Hastings International & Comparative Law Review invites you to participate in a day-long symposium Health As a Human Right: The Global Option to explore the urgent debate: Should health be defined as a basic human right and can such a right be implemented and enforced worldwide?
Human rights scholars, comparative law specialists, medical practitioners and public health experts will consider this question as well as the myriad complexities that entail expanding the human rights framework. Stephen Lewis, the co-director of AIDS-Free World and Professor in Global Health at McMaster University, is the keynote speaker. Mr. Lewis also served as the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa from 2001-2006.
