Martin Quinn Elected President - Academy of Court Appointed Special Masters



Martin Quinn, Esq., a neutral with JAMS, the nation’s largest private provider of ADR services, has been elected as President of the Academy of Court Appointed Special Masters (ACAM). Founded in 2004, ACAM is an independent organization of experienced masters who serve in both federal and state courts. ACAM promotes the effectiveness of masters in helping courts, lawyers, and parties obtain civil justice. Masters substantially reduce litigation expenses and assist jurists in fulfilling their obligations, saving judges and court personnel substantial time. ACAM’s mission is to provide judges, lawyers, parties, and other masters with helpful information regarding the use of masters. Membership is open to any master, including non-lawyers, who has been appointed by a federal or state court judge. Mr. Quinn was  elected at the annual ACAM meeting in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr.Quinn will serve as ACAM President until January 2010. Prior to joining JAMS as a full-time mediator and panelist in 1995, Mr. Quinn was a trial lawyer formore than 25 years. Based in the JAMS San Francisco Resolution Center, he specializes inresolving business and complex tort disputes, and is highly regarded by counsel for his ability tounderstand both the complex legal issues and the human emotion involved in each case. Mr. Quinn teaches mediation as an adjunct professor at the Hastings College of Law, and serves as Director of The Mediation Society in San Francisco. He earned his J.D. from Harvard Law Schoolin 1967, and received his B.A. from Harvard College in 1964.
