Two teams of Hastings 3L students swept the regional rounds of the New York City Bar Association's National Moot Court Competition last weekend, November 13-14, in San Francisco. Heather Corini, Meghan Covert, and Kyong Kim took the awards for First Place Team, Final Round Best Oral Advocate (Heather Corini), and First Place Brief. Gina Altomare, Emily Chan, and Adam Polk won awards for Second Place Team, Third Place Best Brief, and Fifth Place Best Oral Advocate in the Preliminary Rounds (Adam Polk). This outstanding finish guarantees Hastings' participation in the national rounds in New York City in February, 2010.

The Hastings Moot Court Program sponsored the regional rounds here on campus and at the historic Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals courthouse. The prestigious final round judge panel included two San Francisco Superior Court judges and three California Court of Appeal Justices. Eight other schools were represented at the regional rounds, including U.C. Berkeley and UCLA. The program extends special thanks to Rob Galloway, a professor at South Texas College of Law and noted appellate lawyer, for his administration of the oral argument and brief scoring. Congratulations to the teams and thanks to the student and alumni coaches for all of their hard work! Learn more about Moot Court.
