Kathryn Matayoshi ‘82 Chosen as Hawaii School Superintendent

Kathryn Matayoshi ‘82 was unanimously chosen to head Hawaii's public schools by the state Board of Education. Matayoshi has served as interim superintendent since January, and says she plans to keep moving forward on plans she helped lay out in that period.

September 14, 2010 -- Kathryn Matayoshi, who guided the state Department of Education through its successful bid for $75 million in competitive Race to the Top funds and has garnered wide support in the community since stepping in as interim superintendent in January, was chosen yesterday as the permanent head of Hawaii's public schools.
