Prof. David Levine Discusses Prop. 8 Appeal on KQED Radio

Professor David Levine appeared on KQED's "Forum with Michael Krasny" on Dec. 6 and provided perspective on several of the issues surrounding the Proposition 8 federal appeal. Levine discussed the issue of whether the appellant, Protect Marriage, had standing to bring the appeal before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He explained that if the appeals court decides that the appellant does not have standing, the appeal will be dismissed and Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker's ruling overturning Prop. 8 will stand.
Levine also discussed several other questions surrounding the appeal, such as the neutrality of the judges deciding the case and the acceptability of using the democratic process to ban same-sex marriage.
