Graduates Participate in State Bar Admissions Ceremony

With family, friends and mentors looking on with pride, more than 100 UC Hastings graduates participated in the State Bar of California Admissions Ceremony Dec. 3 in a jam-packed Louis B. Mayer Lounge.
Carin Fujisaki '85, a member of the UC Hastings Board of Directors, delivered opening remarks, and Chancellor and Dean Frank H. Wu welcomed the 400-plus attendees. California Supreme Court Justice Marvin Baxter '66 then administered the State Oath to the newly minted attorneys.
Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walker of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and Judge Carlos Bea of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit administered the oaths to practice before the federal district and circuit courts, respectively.
Associate Justice Betty Dawson '78 of the California Court of Appeal, Fifth District, gave the closing remarks to the jubilant crowd.
"After three years of law school, it feels like such an accomplishment," said Vincent Brown '10 of passing the bar. "And I feel so fortunate to have gone to a school such as Hastings."
