UC Hastings Tang Team Captures Best Speaker at Nationals

UC Hastings 2L students Susan Tran and Matthew Tabo (pictured at right) finished as semi-finalists at the National Round of this year's Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition. The pair also earned the award for Second Place Brief and Tran was awarded Best Speaker. Seventy-two teams nationwide competed in this year's competition, with the top 16 advancing to the National Rounds in Los Angeles. UC Hastings fielded two other teams at Nationals this year thanks to a strong showing at the San Francisco Regional: 2Ls Ivy Paek and Judy Yang, and 2Ls Alice Wang and Kelly Matayoshi (pictured below).
The Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition is administered by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA). The competition, held each year in conjunction with the annual NAPABA Convention, honors the late Judge Thomas Tang, a champion of individual rights and an advocate for the advancement of minority attorneys. The competition is open to all students but is especially designed to reach out to APA law students and provide them with an opportunity to showcase their writing and oral advocacy skills and compete for scholarships totaling $10,000.
